Our History

In 1922, Henry Luce and Briton Hadden, longtime friends and Yale classmates, resigned their jobs at the Baltimore News and moved to New York to begin work on the prospectus for TIME magazine. Seventy stockholders invested $85,675 to launch TIME, and the company became incorporated on November 28, 1922.

Our Awards and Recognition

  • IPC scooped two accolades at the 2010 PPA Awards gala, the UK magazine industry's annual Oscars. NME.com celebrated the award for Consumer Website of the Year and Look's publishing director Julie Lavington scooped Publisher of the Year.
  • TIME's Steven Johnson was honored at the 2010 Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School Mirror Awards for excellence in media industry reporting. Johnson won in the category "Best Single Article, Traditional Media" with his story How Twitter Will Change the Way We Live.
  • Media Industry Newsletter has announced its 2010 Best of the Web Awards and several Time Inc. brands were recognized for their outstanding work in digital.
